Media Research essay This research essay will explore the representations of Males in the war genre showing and expressing the different stereotypes that exist and how some of these may be challenged. This essay will explore the different electronic media types of film, television and of the quite popular games in the war genre. There has always been existing that in the war genre, when you think of war it instantly relates towards males. War being full of extreme violence that can only be performed by males, as this being a stereotype of males and it being an expressive outlet of masculinity Masculinity within the media outlet began at the start of world war 2 where Hollywood studios wanted to make war films based on the events happening on the battlefield and all the films and media that came out of Hollywood was male bound as all the people within the war where males and so males became the head of all war films due to war and violence being related to males at it shown and...

Representations in Skyfall

How males are represented in skyfall Males are represented to be tough and hard, an example of this would be Kincade as he uses quite strong language towards bond, "Jumped up little Prick" being quite aggressive and showing his masculinty. Another charater that shows this traight is bond, with his ability to kill without hesitation, for example at the end of the film when he throws a knife straight into the back of Silva, Finally with Mallory when he is in a firefight at the court meeting between Silva and his men, shows quite a masucline traight of being aggressive and weilding a deadly weapon  Females in Skyfall have a mixed representation Of masculinity and Femininity  Miss Moneypenny has a mixed representation as she shows masucline qualites of fighting and shooting being heavily aggressive but also feminine qualites of being gentle and sweet, these are shown when she is in the casino in macau.  M has a mixed representations of having masculine qualites...

Plan for my essay #2

Representation of Males in the War genre 1- Males being represented as hero's/soldiers/aggressive to back this up in the movie Fury (David Ayer, October 22nd, 2014) this reinforces this stereotype when in the movie when the majority of the people we see are soldiers with non of them being woman, with the males being hardened brutalist males "we are here to kill fucking Kraus scum not play with fucking dolls so get your head out of your arse and do your job solider" in battlefield 4 they are shown as being aggressive as when they are captured, one of the soldiers spits in the face of the Chinese commander who is going to torture them spitting represented as being one of those things you do as its dirty and can be shown as being hugely disrespectful and aggressive and can show the person who is spat at is dirty and a bit of a idiot and mean War thunder, in the cut scene, one of the soldiers is seen stabbing a enemy solider repeatedly and then burning his dead body wit...
Narrative assessment Give three examples of the use of action codes are used in the film skyfall and explain how these help to tell the story (3) An action codes which is shown in skyfall is when the character we later find out that is Miss Moneypenny says to M that she has shot Bond and he has fallen in to the river and which they presume he is dead, In  which M sighs and looks out of the window in fear that she has lost her best agent. Another action code is when M is sat in the church and in comes the Villain ready to kill her. The body language shows that there is no hope that she will live in the Fear of the villain killing her Give Three examples of the use of enigma codes in skyfall and explain how these keep the audience engaged (3) An engima code that was in the movie of skyfall, the mystery of whats of the hard drive, keeping the audience thinking about it all the film with the chases to find the hard drive. Another mystery of Silver esacping from MI6 and why did he...

For the Television programs I have chosen to go for royal marines commando school which is about training of the Army and there progress on the front line of Afghanistan. The representations are important in exploring the masculinity of males in the war genre and how this ma have changed in time and if the perception of masculinity in war is still there or if its  diminished in any way to fit a different purpose
Genre Research Task War genre War genre is concerned with Warfare that existed before the turn of the 20th century and during the 20th century, typically these are about land, air and naval battles. With combat scenes central to the drama that existed in such events of war. Nations such as china, Indonesia, Russia, and japan have made there own films and such things that show off previous events/wars that they have under taken in the last century. from this reenactments of such wars have been growing in the turn of the late 20th century, many of which have been of World War 1 and World War 2 and to more recent years at the turn of the 21st century game manufactures have got involved creating war games that illustrate wars both past and more fictional future wars.  examples of products in this genre that have represented and shown and incite into war are films such as Fury, which follows the story of an American tank crew breaking behind enemy territory in the ww2 scene of Naz...
War genre research task War genre War film is a film genre or other electronic media concerned with warfare of land, air and naval battles that have taken place within the twentieth century, with combat scenes central to the genre. There is stories or films that try to stay as close to the real thing as possible as a historical enactment of the film or even can be a twist but is still some what based off a real story in terms of some the events that are played out in the events of the story and through other means of representation both physical viewed and mentally in the minds of the people to imagine what I would have been like in the real wars. War film that can count as a historical enactment of a war event would be Fury, which is based on World War 2 with the American army pushing behind the lines of the German forces. The film focuses around tank combat and the name fury coming from the name of Sherman tank as it was called fury and this was closely related to what act...
War genre Representation of woman and men Films> Battleship-  Rihanna, one of the main protagonist having a more masculine role/ change what role woman have in newer war related films (Peter Berg, Battleship, 2012) Fury- represented as innocents and usually end up dying, having a non important role due to the events in the story (Michael Spielberg, Fury, 2013)  Edge of tomorrow- For this a woman is also the main protagonist participating in a co role for a interwoven story. The role of army soldiers is commonly played by a male character but instead they have gone against what is commonly been used in war films. This has happened more recently in the war genre where woman have started to take on more lead roles (Doug Liman, Edge of tomorrow, 2014) Games> Battlefield 4- Woman played yet again as a lead role of a protagonist at the sane time of trying to be the innocents with more focus on the male characters as you are the one controlling the male cha...
Pulp Fiction Opening Analysis using generic signifiers. How is the genre of the film made clear in the opening two scenes? what enigmas are present in these two scenes? in terms of narratives. how is the opening of this film different from the usual way of starting a film? The genre of this film is a mixture of loads of different genres for example black-comedy, gangster and crime. In the first scene we see that the genre of the film seems to be of the crime genre. This is shown when the two protagonists in the scene decide to rob the food diner they are in with guns and using brutal language" get your fucking heads down" In the second scene we see that the genre of alternates to black humour where both of the Hitmen are going to a guys apartment to collect a suitcase for their boss. when they are riding to the apartment they are talking about European foods and laws. Review of my AS level What went well in my AS Media? In my AS Media i thought that my main production and pre production went well as it was relatively easy for me to design images and covers that i needed for the coursework. Photoshop was quite easy for me to use as i have used photoshop in the past and I'm quite good at using the software. Even better If in my AS Media? For my exam if i had a better understanding of the key terms and meaning of the key terms as this may have helped me do better in my work. Targets for my A2 Media Studies work! - My target would be to learn key terms and to have a better understanding of what they actual mean and relate to - Spend more time on my main production and less time on my actual main production.
